Creative Projects

Many of You have asked if I have been drawing, or working on any art. My Loved Ones/ Team have been trying to encourage me to get back into it. The depression has put a block on it, whereas I lack motivation. I believe that the last project I actually worked on was four years ago, give or take. But it was for a Loved One, as most have been since my incarceration.

Nonetheless, my poetry has been my main source of creative outlet. I have been posting most of it here. But I know how complicated my poetry may be to understand, and that's even for those whom are actually trying to understand it, as opposed to just simply reading it.

When my social media was intially created, I considered doing some digital videos to correlate with my poetry. But I would not only have had to find a digital creator.. I would still have to draw up some story boards for the creative content needed to create such videos. Ehh.. so this was put to the side.

Earlier this year, I have been getting some art supplies... and slowly dipping my hypothetical toe (or sketch pencil) into the hypothetical pool (or paper). I'll have off and on moments. Mostly off.

So, as of this past April, an art workshop has been introduced to this facility. It's coincidential because I've spoken about having one a couple of times in the past... but most individuals are interested in physical activities. So the coincidence is, that this program came in good timing. It was fate that brought this, to compel me to open up more through my art, if nothing else.
This art workshop, produced by Wave Arts Program, is a pilot program that is being introduced to correctional facilities in the state. This being the third month, I have been getting my creative juices flowing.

One of the projects, called a "zine", is basically a production from an artist that can be folded into a paper or mini- books. We've seen them throughout the city, in random cafes, boutiques or even in the streets. I've came across a few zines myself, while I was working in Urban Outfitters. You know, "hipster life and all that".
Anyway, most people know me to be 'matter of fact' or take things serious. Too damn serious sometimes, lol. Therefore, I decided to create zines that correlate with my poetry. Keeping in the spirit of producing a video for my poetry, this was something I've been wanting to, maybe even needing to do -- but didn't have the motivation. It is necessary to provide visuals and/ or bring my poetry to life.
So though, we are now moving onto our next project, I will start producing some zines for the site. if anyone wants their own copy, let me know. The first one will come very soon.
