B.A.T.T.L.E. Center
(Born Again To Teach & Love Everyone)
"Battle poverty, struggle(s) & obstacle(s) with love, knowledge & compassion. Battle self with overcoming through empowerment."
PURPOSE: Life Changing Center for Families. B.A.T.T.L.E. has a purpose to encourage all participants (children & parents) with love, knowledge & empowerment to change their lives for the betterment of the participants & their loved ones.
CRITERIAS:
(1) Provided for low- income families, whom must have below a certain income to participate in the program (proof of income/ wages, bills, etc.).
(2) The parents get tested for drugs. If they're using, immediate family/ drug counseling. If the parents refuse, they get reported.
(3) The children must have high grades & maintain their high grades in order to participate.
This CENTER is a program for families:
The children and young teens (ages 5-17) participate in after school (hours 2:30pm to 6:30pm). The purpose is to keep them occupied and off the streets; especially while their parents may still be at work. To guide and teach them etiquette, inspiration, life lessons, etc. outside of the area they may be raised in; for future opportunities & aspirations.
This center has computers with limited online access and instructors to guide children on how to use the computers. The computers have software programs with life building strategies and basic coding. Other than the computer room(s), there are peer tutors to assist with homework and life coaches to inspire the youth.
This center/ program also has connections with temp agencies that assist in providing jobs, for the low-income parents; and even part-time jobs for the teenagers that are allowed/ able to work.
This program also has mandatory family counseling. The drug counseling is not mandatory, only if needed/ recommended. These sessions are conducted on weekends.
Lastly, when the parents come to pick up their children around 6pm, there is gourmet dinner already made for the families to either take home or stay in a comfortable setting/ dining area.
KITCHEN:
B.A.T.T.L.E. works closely with local produce markets, supermarkets, etc. that contribute/ donate to the kitchen to ensure gourmet meals. The meals are prepared accordingly to the amount of participants. However, upon the parents arrival, they have an option to take the food home (in to go containers & bags); or to dine in the dining area. The dining area is personable & a warm setting (as opposed to cafeteria benches) to provide comfortability.
STAFF:
-(2) Family Counselors whom work on weekends (on call for emergencies).
-(2) Drug Counselors whom work on weekends (on call for emergencies).

-Child Psychology
-Life Lessons
-Etiquette
-(2) Life Coaches specializing in Job/ Career Placement
-(10) Computer Instructors (15 max. students per class)
-(15) General Counselors, Tutors, Interns and/ or Volunteers

(13) Cooks, Caterers and/or Kitchen Staff

I have put more thought into B.A.T.T.L.E. b/c it combines a few of my interests into one (computers, sociology/ psychology/philanthropy & food). However, I have this other aspiration that has been pending in the back of my mind. It is selfish. It is more intriguing b/c of the simplicity. It involves connecting a food truck to a Winnebago and traveling the world.
